From the onset, this is the first point of contact – the person you are building for. They will define the needs and vision of the project. Most times they will need experts to help them decide on most aspects related to the project.

Quantity Surveyor

This is one of the key team members who will play a big role in helping bring the vision to life. This person is in charge of information regarding the land – the location, size, features on and beneath the land. The surveyor will create boundaries of the land by measuring the contours to help engineers create a map. he will come up with budgets and cost for the entire construction project. 

When the brief is ready, he should come up with a cost plan, showing an estimate of the sketch drawings and how much the project will cost to help the client stay within budget.

The project will not run smoothly if this information is not readily available. The surveyor has a lot of knowledge in a local area due to the fact that they have carried out many surveys.

Architect

The architect takes the client’s brief then comes up with a design of the building. he will advise the client on which team he should get on board. 

The architect can help a client formulate the floor plan of the building in a way that the client will understand. He can also show the client previous designs worked on to give the client an idea of what to expect. If this is not possible, he can use artistic models or sketches to help visualize the final structure.

To make it easy for the architect to understand the brief, a client should write down specifications detailing what they want before meeting with the architect. 

Engineers

The engineer is responsible for taking care of the other engineers and managing their work. These include electrical, mechanical, structural and even geotechnical engineers. They will provide specifications, schedules, drawings and other relevant data which will assist the quantity surveyor to come up with a bill of materials and costs for the client. Once construction begins, engineers should visit the site to make sure that the work is going on as planned. 

Builders

This is the person who is in the middle of the physical construction of the building. He is in charge of carrying out a maintainability analysis, preparing production management documents and also managing the production process on the site.  

Project Manager

The project manager will play a key role in the construction plan. Without him, the other team members won’t have the guidance to fulfil the duties they are working on. Their work is to plan the successful delivery of the project from start to finish. They will manage the day to day work, engaging with each team member and updating the client on progress. He is also in charge of producing reports at each stage to keep everyone up to date.
