Gone are the days when you would hear the word “bachelor pad” and think of frozen meals, dirty dishes, or tattered furniture. Modern bachelor pads are more than that. Today’s man has a certain flair to him, he’s successful and stylish. His house needs to be a reflection of him.

The people who visit you should be able to understand who you are by simply looking around your house. You could be hosting your family for dinner, having a date spend the night, or your boys come over to play games. Let your house bring out your personality.

Being on the go shouldn’t stop you from creating a place that’s comfortable and inviting. Creating a man pad isn’t hard, you just have to have an idea of how you want it to look like. If you are recently moving out or you’re looking for ways to spruce up your current house, you don’t have to make all the changes at one go. Also, it doesn’t have to be an expensive affair. Unless you have the money and you want to go all out.

If you don’t have an idea of where to start from, relax. We know it is not easy but we are here to provide tips to help you create a space that reflects who you are and brings out your taste.

The Sofa is Always the Focal Point

Most guys spend their time on the sofa reading, working, chilling with friends, and even just stretching. You want it to be comfortable and big. For a bachelor pad, the ideal sofa is a leather seat. Let’s be honest, men don’t like cleaning. Getting a leather seat makes sense because it is easy to clean and has tough fabric which makes it durable and last longer.

Bring out your personality with the fabric

If you are a brooding or mysterious man, black furniture is ideal. For someone who is grounded, go for a traditional brown leather seat. If you are outgoing and approachable, dark linen and velvet will work well.

Create more seating space

The one thing you can never go wrong with a bachelor pad is having a sectional couch (joining two or more pieces together). The fewer pieces you have the cheaper it is to get this type of sofa. 2 important terminologies to remember about a sectional: RAF – Right Arm Facing which means that your arm is on the right side when you are facing the section. LAF – Left Arm Facing which simply means the arm is on the left side.

Before getting a sectional, many variables will come to play when setting up your living room. Sectionals are perfect for a bachelor pad with an open plan house arrangement. They bring people together by creating a comfortable and cosy environment to share with friends.

The Modern Man Has a Fully Stocked Kitchen

If you are busy with work, getting used to ordering takeout can become the norm with no time to cook.  However, when someone visits you and opens your fridge, they hope to find actual food. Send the right message to your guests by stocking your kitchen with the basic essentials.  Basic courtesy says you should always offer your guests something to eat or snack on when they visit. Living in a bachelor pad is no different. Keep non-perishable items that will last long in the pantry so that you don’t run out of things to cook when you’re indoors. Once in a while, you can buy perishables like fruits, vegetables and meat.

When it comes to the kitchen space, dark, moody walls complete a bachelor pad together with dark stainless steel appliances. As for lighting, bright light is ideal for cooking with a deem option during eating time.

Gentlemen Have Impressive Bedrooms

Make having clean sheets a priority in your bachelor pad. Some people will use the same bedsheets for weeks on end without changing them. In an ideal situation, you should have at least a pair of 3 – 4 sheets so that when you change them, you don’t have to do laundry immediately. As you’re shopping for them, look for sheets with a high a high thread count. Remember to get a comfortable mattress. Your guests will feel extra comfortable.

Have a Clean, Non-Smelly Bathroom

The bathroom is one of the major places that speaks volumes about a man’s house. If you don’t take care of this part of your house, your entire house will repel your guests and anyone else you are trying to impress. If your guests feel like they have to disinfect themselves every time they leave your house, then you clearly need to do something about your hygiene levels.

Take extra care when cleaning your toilet. Dry the floor of the toilet well because no one likes stepping on liquids. Have a clean hand towel close by for your visitors to dry their hands. Have a storage cabinet to store your toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream and any other personal product you use neatly.

Real Men Read

Men read things from the internet and actual books. Books make for a good conversation starter. You can have a variety of books depending on what you enjoy reading. A nice shelf of books in your house will break the ice when people visit you in your home.

Some Bachelors Need Booze

Bachelors love entertaining people in their house.  Booze is one of the bachelor pad essentials in the house. It is not about the quantity of booze available but the quality. It doesn’t have to be fully stocked but has some good brands in your drinks cabinet. Young men can get away with drinking any brand of liquor. But as they get older, they develop a taste in what they drink.

If you’ve been struggling with giving your pad an upgrade, follow these tips. You’ll see a major change.
